About the D locrian scale

The Locrian mode is the darkest and most unstable of the seven diatonic modes. Its diminished fifth makes even the tonic chord feel unresolved. While rarely used as a tonal center, Locrian is important for improvising over half-diminished chords in jazz and for creating extreme tension in metal.
